Playing Quality Hands in Loose Holdem Games
As you play online Texas Holdem, you must learn how to play the quality hands as efficiently as possible. Way too often players get careless when they get the big hands and end up settling for small pots, this being due to overconfidence or playing them inappropriately.
First of all you have to be familiar with the premium hands. As in land based cash games, online Texas Holdem high hands include AA, AK, KK, suited Aces paired with a Queen or a King, and a pair of Jacks. With these hands, you should be as aggressive as possible, except for those instances when you are on the flop and overcards are present.
In that case you should consider the players involved and the quality of the other cards on the flop, and of course what are holding too.
Other quality Texas Holdem hands are unsuited AQ, a King and Queen, King and Jack suited and a JT suited. Although the value of these quality hands vary, the general Texas Holdem strategy, when you are in the late position is to raise with them. Not only are they strong on their own, they are also good potential draws.
All those above mentioned hands provide you with the potential to get top pairs, two pairs, straight or the flush. That is the advantage of having them, and also, even if you are up against bigger hands, having a JT or AQ unsuited means you can still opt for a semi bluff, knowing that you can still make a good two pair or a set.
It is not enough to simply have quality hands in Texas Holdem to win. You must know how to play them well. A lot of times, players get these big hands and they go wild, raising and re raising without any regard as to whether they are holding an AA or a JT or if they are the first or last to act.
At the minimum, it limits the amount of Texas Holdem money they can win. At its worst it can cost them the hand altogether. If you are still a new player, you should avoid making these mistakes, because it will cost you a lot of money.
When you have the quality hands in online Texas Holdem, value and play them well. There are other ways that they may be played, depending on the table and the players, or if you are playing in a tourney format, or something else. However, by knowing the basic fundamentals, you will be able to make modifications more easily.
With the proper techniques and playmaking in place, you will take the big pots easily. |
